Father: Richard Henry
Named After: Ngati Kuia, iwi (local Maōri people) for Maud Island. Kuia means ‘wise, old woman’.
Kuia is one of just three Kākāpō – and the only female – to carry Richard Henry’s Fiordland genes. Kuia bred for the first time in 2016, producing four chicks: Gertrude, Adelaide, Marian and Henry.
